A few words about Roy McMurtry

Our Clinic is proud to bear the name of the Honourable R. Roy McMurtry because he was a great individual with many connections to us.

The province-wide network of legal clinics of which we are an essential part was established as a result of Roy McMurtry himself. In his role as Attorney-General of Ontario, from 1975 to 1984, he believed strongly in the importance of this system to so many in our province. Also as AG, he was the key figure in establishing French as one of the two official languages of the courts of Ontario. Our bilingual Clinic strives every day to honour the memory of this fine person with our work.
